ZEE5 Unveils First Look At Leander Paes-Mahesh Bhupathi’s Non-Fiction Series “Break Point”

Streaming platform ZEE5 on Friday unveiled the first look at the upcoming non-fiction “Break Point”, based on the life of tennis champions Leander Paes-Mahesh Bhupathi. Directed by filmmaker couple Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the seven-part series traces the partnership on and off the court between the two Indian tennis legends. The creators have unveiled the first poster of the ZEE5 original series, which shows Paes and Bhupathi sporting an intense look.

First-time co-director Ashwiny and Nitesh said they were delighted to bring to the screen the untold story of Paes and Bhupathi, who were the first Indian couple to win at Wimbledon in 1999 .

“It’s great to bring a series like this to a home video streaming platform like ZEE5. Working with icons like Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes has been surreal and bringing their untold story to the screen is something we cherish forever,” they said in a joint statement.

Nicknamed “Indian Express”, Paes and Bhupathi played together from 1994 to 2006 and reunited for their second stint from 2008 to 2011. The two also had a public fallout, but they put that behind them.

Paes, 48, said he enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane while filming “Break Point.”

“Mahesh and my partnership on the pitch have been widely covered, and our chemistry off the pitch has been widely speculated on. This is the first time our fans will be able to see and hear it all, firsthand. hard to put India at the top of world tennis and we are happy to have the chance to showcase our history to the world like never before,” said Paes.

Bhupathi, 47, is confident that the series will surely be a treat for the audience and his fans.

“It’s no secret that I’m reserved when it comes to communicating, so it’s a big step for me to relive the trip and tell it all in the most candid and honest way. But , at the same time, I am happy that our fans can see our journey which was a mixture of sweat, perseverance, brotherhood and sometimes also blood and tears”, he added.

“Break Point” will soon air on ZEE5.
