MUMBAI: Streaming platform ZEE5 on Friday unveiled the first preview of the upcoming non-fiction “Break Point,” based on the life of tennis champions Leander Paes-Mahesh Bhupathi.

Ashwiny and Nitesh, who are co-leading a project for the first time, said they were delighted to bring to the screen the untold story of Paes and Bhupathi, who were the first Indian pair to win at Wimbledon in 1999. .

“It’s great to show a series like this on a local video streaming platform like ZEE5.

Working with icons like Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes has been surreal and showing their untold story on screen is something we will cherish forever, ”they said in a joint statement.

Nicknamed “the Indian Express”, Paes and Bhupathi performed together from 1994 to 2006 and reunited for their second stint from 2008 to 2011.

The two also had public spinoffs, but they put that behind them.

Paes, 48, said he enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane while filming “Break Point.”

“Mahesh and my partnership on the pitch have been widely covered, and our chemistry off the pitch has been widely speculated. This is the first time our fans will be able to see and hear it all, firsthand.

“Mahesh and I have worked very hard to put India at the top of world tennis and we are happy to have the chance to present our story to the world like never before,” said Paes.

Bhupathi, 47, is convinced that the series will surely be a treat for the public and his fans.

“It’s no secret that I’m reserved when it comes to communicating, so it’s a big step for me to relive the trip and present everything in the most candid and honest way.

“But, at the same time, I’m happy that our fans can see our journey which was a mixture of sweat, perseverance, brotherhood and sometimes blood and tears too,” he added.
