After two years of a combination of virtual and in-person readings, for which in-person events were only open to the Simon’s Rock community, this is the first time since 2019 that the series is open to in-person audiences. .
“I’m thrilled to welcome the community back to campus for the Poetry & Fiction series, which is a highlight of the fall semester. We’ve had Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award winners , Guggenheim Scholars, MacArthur Genius Fellows and rising literary stars whose work continues to find new readers around the world,” said the Dean of Faculty and Curriculum Development and Professor Creative Writing and Literature Fellow Brendan Mathews, Poetry & Fiction Series Coordinator.”And that doesn’t happen in a big auditorium – the readings happen in the living room of Blodgett House, where we can have real conversations with the writers. Students always ask good questions, and writers often tell me they’re blown away by the depth of student engagement with writers’ work.”
